Studying at university might be a bit different from what you're used to at school, but don't worry your lecturers know that and will give you plenty of help and support. And remember that everyone else is in the same situation too! Actually, there’s a difference between university and school. That’s why we have to make the transition from school to university.

πŸ₯MAKING TRANSITIONS (FROM  SCHOOL TO UNIVERSITY)

Making the move from being in a school to university is not an easy task. There’s a need for students to make new friends, find out new things and make necessary lifestyle adjustments for them to feel at home in the new surroundings. 

Students will have to get used to a new way of thinking,tougher questions in the classroom, new styles of teaching (such as lectures) and more demanding essays. You’ll even have a new mark scheme to get used to. Here are some ways in which you can give yourself a head start so that you can adapt more easily:
  • Get started on the reading list
  • Talk to current students
  • Start developing the right study skills
   
πŸ₯STEPS TO COLLEGE SUCCESS


1.ATTEND ALL CLASSES 

Make it your goal to always show up to every classes. Start off with that secured in your mind.It's very good to have and understand your own notes from any lectures.
  
2.BECOME AN ACTIVE LEARNER 

A good active learner is a student who always participate in class and collaborate with each other. Active learners actively seek to understand the subject material and also clarify anything which they do not understand.I encourage you to take the first step in becoming an active learner. You will reap the rewards! 

3.PARTICIPATE IN CLASS     

Class participation is an important aspect of student learning. When student speak up in class, they learn how to show their ideas in the way that others can understand. When they ask questions, they learn how to gain information to improve their own understandings of any topics. 

4.GET TO KNOW YOUR LECTURERS 

As students, you guys can stay engaged during lectures and also participate when asked to by lecturers even if you think your answer or opinion is not the best. If you participate regularly, your lecturer is more likely to know your name. There are also a lot of benefits in knowing your lecturers. You will find most of them to be interesting people who are knowledgeable about many things about any subjects beyond your understanding. 

5.FORM STUDY GROUP WITH FRIENDS 

HEY, WANNA JOIN US STUDYING???
A study group can be formed with 3-4 persons in a group. Study group is an effective way to help students diversify and maximize their study time.Students can also strengthen their understanding through discussion.

6.STAY UP TO DATE WITH YOUR WORK 

A lot of freshies are struggling in keeping up with all of the reading that's assigned in class. If you get behind in your reading, you may never have time to catch up.The workload in college just increases as the semester progresses.Do not ever procrastinate!


7.BE RECEPTIVE TO CHANGE 

The methods that you guys used in school is totally different with university. If the methods that you used in school is not working, you will have to find another way to learn. If you still stick to your old methods,you might not see any changes in your performance.

8.WORK HARD THIS SEMESTER 

Actually as students, we should always work hard in every semester to reach our exact goals. If you're in a hard course,you should know better about how to handle it wisely. It is all depend on yourselves. Definitely you guys need to do everything on your own because no else is going to do it for you.
