Goals are something that you hope to attain in the future. In varsity life, goals are important because it could help students to motivate themselves in doing works, attend every classes and studying for exam.It also provide structure and order in your life, allowing you to focus on certain critical events and ignoring the less important ones. You can fix your academic performance in university by learning to set goals and increase your possibility to be a successful student.

🌼CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS

1. CHALLENGING
Goals should be challenging so that you are pushed to work for it. At the same time, it should be reachable so that you can achieve it.

2. REALISTIC
Goals challenge us to achieve what is essential to ourselves. It should be realistic to maintain our motivation levels.

3. MEASURABLE
When setting the goals, it is very important to describe how each result will be measured. It would be difficult to determine whether you achieved your goal with just wanted to "do well in a course". It would be much easier if you had aimed for an A or a B for the papers that you take.

4. SPECIFIC
Trying to "do your best" or "do better" is like trying to eat the hole in a doughnut. There's nothing there to chew on.The more specific your goals are, the more motivated you'll be to get them.

5. POSITIVE
Goals should always be framed in positive terms. Negative goal statements tend to make you feel that you can't really be successful. As an example, say what you want to accomplish instead of what you don't want to do. "I will attend all classes",is much better than "I won't skip any classes".

SHORT & LONG TERM GOALS
  • short-term goal is something you want to do in the near future. The near future can mean today, this week, this month, or even this year.It is something you want to accomplish soon and you can achieve it in 12 months or less.
  • long-term goal is something you want to do further in the future. Long-term goals require time and planning. They are not something you can do this week or even this year. Long-term goals usually take 12 months or more to achieve.
🌼ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL GOALS
  • Academic goals :
Students who have set academic goals for themselves are more likely to complete their college education. Examples include, attending classes, doing the assignments and also studying for the examination.

  • Personal goals:
This goals is all about something that someone want to achieve in their life. Examples include, their ambitions, making new friends and to whom they wanna get married.
